Got the Garand sighted in at 50 yds. I'll have to see what it does at 100 yds when it is less warm.

I have some AMA (Danish) .30-06 brass that I am trying to decap. Trying with a decapping die but having no luck. Any thoughts or experience?

Berdan?

It was made in '57, so I assume it is boxer. But, I might be wrong.

Evening gents, Hope everyone is doing fine. Been busy, I am taking over with my daughter as coordinator of the local 4H Top Shooters club. Both granddaughters are doing Archery and .22 rifle. They are doing great and learning how to safely handle firearms and bows. It is fun seeing young minds take hold of something like this. I wonder if it will survive this politically correct anti-gun world that is developing.

Good to see you, Tom. That will keep you off the streets.  ::)
It is good to see kids in shooting sports. My kids are in 4H archery and air rifle.

Ask in the powder room, bet some of them there know how. ;D

They say the Indians used percussion caps for them since slot of old American rounds used to use the system.

Slim, try a search for converting berdan brass over on Surplusriflrforum, there's several threads on that. How easy basically depends on the diameter of the existing primer pocket. But it seems a lot of trouble for common 30-06 brass.

Good Morning all.  The coffee is hot, and the tea is iced.

Looks like I've got oatmeal on the menu this morning. ::)

Tom, 4H shooting does pretty well in the rabidly anti-gun state of California, of which I am currently a resident.  I'm on of three 4H rifle instructors in my county, and we've done three projects in the past four years, with almost 40 kids total in participation.  Considering that there are few than 100 4H kids in the county, that's a good number. ::)

Morning y'all.
Thanks fer the coffee.

It appears that that Berdan primer pockets are larger. It seems to not be worth the trouble.

not even archery is offered.
She has control over the Osceola clubs.... She is a Anti and will not hear any arguments , pro-Shooting sports

They do have Shooting Sport over in Highlands County, and they offer Air Rifle 8-10  & shotgun, small bore, and hunting  10-13

Wet here today, and more rain expected.  We've got a high pressure front holding the rain off the Gulf over us.
I am thankful that the temperature has dropped.

Slim,

I am pretty much along with what others have suggested.
However, I feel a need to ask how many cartridge cases do you have?

Some have dome it by drilling out the Berdan primer, leaving it in place as a sleeve, or if the pocket isn't too oversized, decapping and then peening the edges of the primer pocket and the reaming to the correct size. For me, it seems that either option would be too much work for such a a common caliber as 30-06. Maybe just store it in a corner and wait to see if anyone, anywhere, imports any more Berdan primers.

I've got about 100 8mm Mauser I bought years ago that had been converted from Berdan, apparently by an arsenal somewhere. 40's and 50's headstamps, Berdan anvil removed, center hole drilled, pockets sleeved so well that some are hard to see. Was all loaded with FMJ bullets, and kicked like a mule!

Good morning everyone.

Seems I forgot to set my alarm last night, so I slept in an extra two hours.  ::)  Made the chickens very unhappy, but at least I enjoyed it.

And now I'm sitting around watching my sister's dog.  It's my sister's birthday today, and her one wish was that someone else take care of the dog until 10:30, so she could sleep in.  ::)
