Sir Charles,
Very interesting.
I worked at Jamestown Settlement Park in VA. for a number of years.
We had a Domestic Arts Specialist that worked very hard at finding cooking receipt for Native American foods from the period. Most of these food items were unknown to the English, so the English had to learn the Native American ways of cooking such items.
I am sure this Domestic Arts Specialist knew of this Cook Book.
However, in this new world of new food sources, much of what the English were familiar with had to be substituted for what was obtained locally.
By 1611, the time period we represented for the Jamestown Settlement, the diet of the Colonist had improved. Much thanks to the efforts of the local Indians.
My best,
Blair
