Interesting New Henrys.

Just got back fron EOT and visited the ladies at the Taylor and Company booth.  They just got in a batch of new Henrys and they were intereting to say the least.  They all have a side loading gate cutout pattern marked on the sides.  The transition model was a dismal flop a few years ago.  Seems Uberti decided to use up all those old receivers that were lying around.

The cut out on the side that you are seeing is just a plastic film that is covering the brass.  There isn't anything on the actual brass side plate.

The clear plastic film is just there to protect the brass from scratches.  I is easily pealed off before use.  Notice the air bubbles on the left side of the receiver in the posted picture.  They are between the brass receiver and the clear plastic film.

Believe me it is a thin clear plastic film. I have had several come through here and that is what it is.  Here is a picture of one I have in stock that I have pealed the clear film partially off.

What's interesting is that even the ladies at Taylors weren't sure.  The first couple taken out the box had no bubbles and the film was basically indistinguishable from the brass.

I just saw that same film for the first time on a new Cimarron '66 bought by a guy at EOT a few days ago.

Twould appear ........ Uberti is getting "double duty" out of their protective plastic film.  I would suggest Uberti is using the same film
pattern for both the 1866 and the Henry.  Really no biggie.  Just makes us all go "Hummm"

I was interested in getting a side load from Uberti last year and was told they were doing a run of a few guns, may be this is as far as it got.

Same plastic siding on a Henry and a 66 we got in recently.  Freaked a little myself about the Henry until I realised it was just a protective covering cut with a die stamp used on both rifles.   Henry frame is purty and all brass.  No side plate loading gate cut.
