Water Coolers
« on: May 31, 2016, 11:34:55 AM »
Gentlemen,  We're looking for a couple more five gallon water coolers for the upcoming National Muster, if you have one you would consider bringing.  Let me know if you can.  Thank you!

Thanks, John.  I'm hoping to have a cooler at every stage this year.  Hydration is going to be a MAJOR theme out there!

Memorize or at least be familiar with the chart.

Really miss Rick on these hot events, he was good at keeping an eye on people, the Corpsman instinct.

I have located my big orange Igloo to bring along.  If we already have enough for H2O, a cooler full of ice cold gin and tonic might be nice after a long, hot day on the skirmish line! Less than 2 weeks!  I better go load some ammo!

Bring it if you have room, we can keep just ice in it or ice water in camp, mine will have iced tea and garorade.

Have you guys ever thought of setting up a LISTER Bag.  It's a conical canvas bag with a top to keep out bugs and it's cylindrical down to a ring with stop cocks.

It's hung from an "A" frame or tripod.  Capacity is around 50 gallons and the water is kept cool by evaporation of the water that seeps through the canvas.  Haven't seen one since I was stationed at Fort Dix.  BCT Committee Group had them set up at the various ranges and bivouac sites.

Just a thought.

Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

We used Lister Bags way up into the 90's at Fort Hood.  I would guess most of them got moldy and were salvaged by DRMO.  I haven't seen on in years either,

I remember using them in the Marine Corps, but the coolers we use worked great, especially as we had enough of them this year..........

Lister bags would probably be more Period correct as well as "military use correct", but since we usually have Gatorade or tea in our coolers, they're probably better for that.
