The 2016 NCOWS Midwest Regional's
« on: May 28, 2016, 04:12:26 PM »
The Wisconsin Old West Shootists will be hosting the NCOWS 2016 Midwest Regional's on July 15h, July 16th and July 17th. This event will be held at the Wisconsin Old West Shootist’s (WOWS) beautiful range in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. Glenwood City is around a half hour from Menomonie, Wisconsin and an hour from the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Free camping is available for both primitive and modern campers.

Side matches and long range matches will be held on Friday. On Friday night everyone will be treated to a wonderful campfire supper. The evening campfire supper is a great opportunity to meet old friends and get acquainted with new friends. The camaraderie is as good as it gets. The folks at WOWS are among the friendliest folks you could hope to find.

The WOWS Range is “U” shaped and in a clearing surrounded by woods. There are eleven permanent stages. Each of the stages has a very well built structure that lends to the atmosphere and fun of Cowboy Action Shooting. The stages will be tied into historical events in the best traditions of NCOWS. Five stages will be shot on Saturday followed by a Banquet in the evening at a local Steakhouse. Five stages will be shot on Sunday followed by a fine lunch and the award ceremony along with a raffle.

If you enjoy the NCOWS Nationals in Evansville, you will definitely enjoy this great event. Everything about this event is first class especially the hospitality. Where could you see a shooter, Red Lodge Rambler shoot an 1858 Remington and load his extra cylinder on the clock. Where could you see a shooter Beartooth Billy shoot a clean match using four firearms that are all over one hundred years old? This event is what NCOWS is all about. This is truly a premier event not to be missed.

Sent in my registration today, am looking forward to it, hopefully it will be cooler. T Joe if
you're not in a hurry on your way up there, I would suggest going up the great river road
through Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, crossing the river at Wabasha

Couldn't make the Nationals this year, so I'm not going to miss the Midwest Regional. My grandson and I are signed up already and have our room reserved for the weekend. Hope to see old faces again and maybe some new faces.  When I called and signed up my first year, I told them I wouldn't know anybody. They told me they were friends I just hadn't met yet. Now that's how they treat you in Northern Wisconsin! !

See you all

Thanks for the kind words Reed. The shoot books are off at the printers and I have a round count for those of you coming. This of course depends on the category that you are shooting but these are the maximum number of rounds that should be needed. Rifle 96, pistol 100, & shotgun 24+. Looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.

Tom, the shotgun, 24+, seems to be a little light for 10 stages. Is that right?

Well, 24 might sound a little light for a shotgun count but most stages only use 2+ rounds. You can keep shooting at them until they are down (or even after they are down if you want) so you may need a couple more rounds. Not to start a discussion here that might be better elsewhere, but like Doc Holiday did, fire two and then get to work with you other guns.
Looking forward to seeing you all there, should be a fun shoot for all.

The extended forecast sounds great  upper 70's to low 80's, we should be there mid afternoon Thurs.
to set up primitive camp. Looking forward to seeing everyone around the campfire that evening

I've been to all 5 years of this event, and very much enjoyed it once again. Thanks
to everyone who puts this on, the facilities are superb, and we very much enjoy
camping there.
