They need to get me in there, RussT, they didn't used to call me "Pipe Finder" for nuthin'!  I could find stuff that shouldn't be dug up even where there was not supposed to be stuff that shouldn't be dug up.  Out in the desert, miles from any town or other general habitation, we were building a new power line - new, never been one there - but in the interest of being considerate of our fellow utilities, I called the locator service, yanno, common right of way and all that.  They came out with a wad of maps and drawings, did some surveying, and staked a path for us to follow with our poles, and even staked the hole locations.  Well, I got set up on the first hole, made about three passes with my auger and came up with an auger full of little tiny wires of about a million different colors, along with a real heavy cross linked poly sheath.  We called the phone company to report that we had dug up a real big cable(s), and that started some kind of panic amongst the hoi-polloi; we had phone company folks crawling all over that site, wringing their hand, cussing at me, and generally making a fuss.  But, they had no reports of any outages or service interruptions on either end of that thirty mile run, and after I took my back hoe and dug out the cable for forty feet in either direction, they had no signal on the torn up wires when the pinged it from either direction.  One of the phone company splicers who had been around for years suggested that we dig it out a bit more, and hook a heavy pulling rig onto it and try to pull it out of the ground; I dug another thirty feet on one leg, and came up with a cut end.  Big question; went the other way about fifty feet, and same thing.  I had dug up a piece of waste that the contractor had just plowed into the ground some twenty feet off to the side of the actual cable run, to save having to scrap it out.  Hah!   Ol' Pipe Finder strikes again!

We could use your talent here,EP. A lot of the infrastructure here is basically not evident when we have to turn a water line off before it goes under a home site. Same thing with some of the sewer stuff ::)

65 outside right now.  Probably going downhill from here!

Our hole in the street has been filled up, but it appears to be waiting for a scab of blacktop to finish it off.  The wait has been 1 1/2 hour so far.

EP they didn’t seem to find any undesired pipes or wire bundles, so I think they managed without you’re dousing skills.  ::)

The icing just showed up for the hole.  I guess my utilities are safe for now!  ;D

Making nachos for supper tonight.  Haven’t decided on supper tomorrow yet.

Well the vote went for steaks on the Barbie.  Baked tater and cheese stuffed pepper poppers for sides.

High thin overcast all day, but the temps have stayed about 60.  The 20 mph wind doesn’t help with the “let’s sit outside with the cats” urge.  I think they are “hissed”   ::) at me right now.  May let them out for a while when the steaks go on the grill.

The cats got their excursion in the backyard last night., while the coals started and the steaks cooked.  They were happy campers right up to “In the house” command was issued.

Steaks were great, but sadly they were the last of the tenderloin from new years.  We need to get another mispriced one to keep the great steaks going.  Tonight’s pizza night so I’m off the hook.

Looks like a repeat of yesterday, weather-wise, high thin overcast and temps around 60.
