Villa's Raid, Columbus, NM 12 March 2016
« on: March 05, 2016, 09:00:42 AM »
Greetings, All.

The event in Columbus is next weekend and it's grown into quite an affair.  Here are a couple of links:

https://uswarhorse.wordpress.com/events/100th-anniversary-of-pancho-villas-raid-on-columbus-new-mexico-march-12-2016/

I tried to find a schedule of events that was posted on another site but have failed.  Suffice it to say there are multiple events including an encampment, presentations, and demonstrations all day long.  There will be at least 50 Villistas coming from Mexico.

Should anyone go and want to stop by and say "hello" I'll be at the U.S. Cavalry Association table, co-located with What Price Glory and Dehner Boots.  Come on down if you can!!!

I was a friend of Donovan (Van) Ketzler, the now-deceased owner of Dehner's.

They made my Tank Boots ('with' the spur rest) for me when I commanded a Cav Squadron, and a pair of Field Boots (oiled) that I wear quite often.

Top-notch quality, and worn by a surprising number of celebrities and un-counted Cav and Armor guys.

Scouts Out!

Van was regular at the National Cavalry Competitions up to the year before his death.  One of his sons was a doctor and in the last couple of years before he died was there with him.  The boy was a pretty good rider, too!   ;)

They do make a quality product.  Quality doesn't cost, it pays, in footwear!!!

Columbus is an interesting place.  I went on a Staff Ride there with the Sergeants Major Academy Class # 40 (1992-93).  I had not heard of the festival, I may try to go down next year.  NCOWS Convention in Iowa this year, same weekend.
