At some point in it's storied past (the 1860), an enterprising Gunsmith had the good sense to lop off the 1860s mile long barrel to something just longer than the Ejector assembly.  Mades for a much handier hand(er) gun.  Letz hear it for Hacksawz-R-Us!!
