What a bummer. I had the same problem with mine before I sold em. Gets the old "measure it with a micrometer, Mark it with Chalk, and
cut it with a Chainsaw." As shown by LJW's gun (he has such swell toys), a taller front sight really won't look at all bad.
For primarily hunting those wily and vicious steels, I personally settled on a really nice 160Gr RNFP bullet with a full case of APP. Real nice load. Had to add a taller front sight to both guns. Used tapered model P sights from Cimarron, then whittled them down to a POA/POI match, then re-blued. Although, one could, after removing the old sight, put the new sight in with JB Weld and let it sit overnight. I have had very good results doing that too.
