Hey, large bore lever action rifle shooters!

Check out my post on "CAS Reloading" re: RN bullets in heavy recoiling rifles with tube magazines.

Gimme your thoughts on this ...... thanks, and a Merry Christmas to you all!

Commen sense says not to use anything but flatnose bullets in a tubeular magazine. Why run the risk if destroying an expensive rifle or hurting yourself unnecessarily?

Round nose bullets in a tubular magazine of ANY Pistol caliber (an even worse idea in a harder kicking rifle caliber) are a sure fire KAboom at some point.  There are problems enough with just a high primer and flat nose bullets.

I have used Hornady jacketed 350 grain bullets with good success BUT they are FLATNOSE bullets.  I do not believe that it would be a very healthful situation to use roundnoses unless one were to insert them by themselves and not through the magazine.

PJ - I read this and the other thread. I'll just say this. By profession, I'm a weapon system safety engineer for the navy. I deal in risk management, risk assessment and risk mitigation of ordnance on a daily basis. In my my view, this is a risk management issue that can easily be mitigated by not using round nose bullets. It a simple answer, but why risk it? ... just my 2 cents.
