Wild Hare TIME !!! All Brass 410 & Round Ball
« on: October 05, 2015, 05:28:01 PM »
::)  I posted this question elsewhere too.  But ...... I have a rifle chambered in .45 Colt/410.  Lotta bullet jump.  So, why not drop a
45 Colt load of BP in an all brass 410 hull, then filler, then cap it off with a round ball.

Gotta be somebody whose done it and survived the experience  :o

Wanna share??

Ain't been there, ain't done it, but know about this one, worked for the Swiss, but they used a real bullet. ;)

Barnes's book says it used a 235 gr bullet.  I see no reason to not use something like that.

a ball that will fit in a .410 hull might be a little loose in the .45 bore.   Maybe a longer .454 Casull case (with a .45 colt load) would work better?

I used to load .444 Marlin cases for my .410 shotgun, using 1/2 ounce of shot, cut off RP wad and 12 gr. of unique - a .44 mag gas check, cup down on the shot and crimped kept the shot in the case.  This load patterned better than 2 1/2" or 2" plastic store-bought hulls.
If fireformed in your .410/.45 colt gun, I do not see why a proper(for the gun) round ball or bullet could not be loaded in the Marlin hull.
