Cimarron (Pietta) Frontier BP Frame Hammer
« on: May 04, 2015, 02:25:23 PM »
Just picked up  this revolver used. Is it possible to install a bisley hammer in it? I have looked a couple places and cannot find any reference to a bisley hammer for this model. It is just a preference, nothing wrong with the hammer in it.

Check VTI gun parts.   I'm not familiar with the Pietta model you are talking about, but Uberti Bisley hammers will not fit the Cattleman (SAA clone) frames.  Best to you...

Ah NO!!  A Bisley hammer will not fit.  In fact I'm not altogether certain whether or not Pietta even makes a Bisley.  I've never personally sen one.  There are some Lower, Wider hammers available from Pietta though.

If it is a Pietta contact EMF. Take a look at their Pony Express model with the Bisley hammers.  I have two Pietta EMF GW II's that had the standard hammer. I contacted EMF about purchasing the Bisley hammers and did so. Dropped them in, worked the action a few times, took them out buffed down the contact areas then put them back in. Work just fine, no sear work.

Ah POOP.  I completely forgot about Pietta's Pony Express.  Tis a Bissley type hammer but made for the standard SA.  As posted by Pit Mule, little if any fitting.  Sheesh.

Thanks for the help. I am going to get ahold of EMF and see what they can do for me. Any others I could check with?

Well, to risk screwing up again, I believe EMF has the "Pony Express" as an exclusive.  DO NOT quote me  ::)

Just to stick up for my pard Coffinmaker the question was ambiguous.   :o  The OP asked about "Bisley" hammers.  Bisley hammers will not fit in a plow handle.  What EMF is offering is not a "Bisley" hammer.  They are offering a SAA hammer with a Bisley "style" spur.  Since SASS changed the rules on hammers a couple of years ago you can weld pretty much any kind of spur on your hammers.

Sorry. Pretty new to things. Guess I used Bisley in a rather generic sense. I should have worded it as
Coffinmaker stated earlier. A lower, wider hammer. My mistake. Still learning.

No, you are fine.  That's what EMF calls them.  This is sort of of in-house (or maybe out-house) joke with Coffinamker.   ;)
