Howdy pards, my name is Matthew, I'm new here and I just bought a Ruger new vaquero with 4" barrel in .45 colt. I'm needing help choosing a holster/rig that won't break the bank. I would prefer a Mexican double loop, I be mainly using it to carry in the woods, any helpful is appreciated.

PS: sorry if this in the wrong place

One question, Pard... You say your New Vaquero has a "4-inch" barrel.  Unless this was a special order, and if the barrel is just about the same length as the end of the ejector housing, it should be a 4-5/8" barrel as measured from the face of the cylinder. This could be an important difference in choosing a holster.  Could you please clarify?

Trailrider,

A lot of new folks measure from the muzzle to the front face of the receiver... forgetting that part of the barrel that has to thread into the receiver to hold everything together.
It is a very common mistake.

My max budget is $150 but I've already worked things out with Camano Ridge.

Just for the benefit of newbies. Most of the "standard" single actions have standard barrel lengths, but when ordering holsters, it helps both the customer and the vendor to know for certain.

I think Denny Chapman the cowboy mounted shooting chap from Ocala FL has a line of custom .45's with 3" or so barrells as standard if a shorter barrell is your thing.  He uses them in pairs on the front of his belly in a straight up and down custom Denny Chapman rig while mounted. I'm sure you can google his stuff if you're interested.
