Hi
I am planning on buying a spencer and after coming upon a pic of an unusal
small framed spencer with an octagonal barrel, I was thinking it would be neat to take one of the new armi sport spencers in 44/40 and rebarrell it with a 26inch octagonal barrels and one of the Remington style rough and ready open and peep rear sights as made by Lone Star.I think this would make a neat and hany handy gun.My dealer told me that he was supposed to be getting a shipment of Spencers in 44/40 in Dec.
Oh by the way if anyone is interested Dixie Gun works has and an original spencer sporting rifle for sale.It has been refinished to new condition and has a fine bore as well.

As far as the DGW sporting rifle, is that 56-46 rimfire or centerfire (converted)?

I think the 56-46 could/can be made from 348Win brass necked up...or 50-70 necked down.

I DONT believe you can make it from Starline 56-50 brass...but, I could be wrong.

I don't know where you would get heeled 459 bullets...maybe modify a Lee mould? (.459 and lop off a couple of groves like we do with our 50 cals)

It would be interesting...
