Anyone have any experience with this ammo?
« on: March 04, 2015, 11:35:17 AM »
Has anyone had any luck with this ammo? I want to buy in bulk but am afraid of Miss-feeds and jams. Feedback will be great. I appreciate it

Thanks!

Several people over on the SASS wire have used this ammo and say it is good ammo.  Whether it will cause misfeeds or jams partially depends on what you are putting it in.  Whart kind of rifle are you using?  In some cases different guns of the same make and model won't take the same ammo.  They sell it is 50 round boxes.  It would be a pretty cheap test to buy a box and try it out before buying in quantity.

I shot it in 45 colt and 44-40 for 2 years before I started loading my own.  That was about 6 or 7 years ago.

Never had a problem in my pistols (45) or my '66 (44-40).  Everything round fed well and went bang.

Winchester Miroku 1873

The only Miroku 73 I have around right now is a .44-40.  The guns are designed to shoot ammo that is 1.590" long.  That is no problem with the .44-40 and .45 because the cases are long.  The gun probably says .357 on the barrel as that ammo is also long.  When you go to .38s you need to watch the OAL.  Usually if you keep it 1.45" or preferably 1.5" or above you generally will have no problems.  What determines how short a round you can use is the angle of the ramp on the front of the carrier.

I have shot about 200 rounds of their 45 Colt 200 gr in my Uberti Cattlemans and 73 with no problems. Decent accuracy for how well I shoot anyway. I agree with Pettifogger in maybe buy a couple boxes of 50 and see how they run through your Winchester.
You can always buy bulk from them if you are satisfied with how they feed.
