1911 action job
« on: March 04, 2015, 02:43:03 AM »
I have been shooting wild bunch matches for about 6 months now and really enjoy it. That said,  I just acquired a new Sig Sauer 1911 stainless steel 45. I have been using my Sig 1911 XO up until now and it has worked really well with little to no problems.  The new SS like the XO is really stiff given the close tolerances of most Sigs. So my question is,  has anybody out there used this model 1911 in competition?  And if so have you had any action work done to it to slick it up? Also, does anyone out there know of any good gun smiths that do action jobs on 1911? Thanks in advance, W. L.

Put 200 rounds of 230 grain ball through it before messing with it.

There are hundreds if not thousands of 1911 smiths.  Ask around at your local IPSC/IDPA club to see who the locals use.

To everyone that has replied, it is all good advice!  Thanks for the input. I have well over 2,000 rounds through my XO and still feel it could be slicked up a bit but I will let a gunsmith make the final call as if I really need it. As for john323, you said you were in So Cal,  I sent you a email and haven't heard back. If you are near Ventura Ca, and would like to take a look,  Shoot me a email and let me know where you are located at.
