I was overseas when the original Star Trek was on and I never saw an episode until they were re-runs.  Youngsters coming to Okinawa were very enthused over this "slightly green alien guy" and described him in great detail.

Once I was back stateside I tried to find any episodes and failed until I'd been home over a year.

Spock became, in my mind, the best of many actors on the series and led the others, including Kirk, in my list of all time favorite characters on any show.

I shall miss him greatly.

Live long and prosper, Mr. Nimoy, wherever and when ever you may be.

I stopped on my way home tonight, for a beer. Leanord Nimoy came up on the TV screen announcing his death. I remarked on it to my buddy who is 60+. He had never heard of Mr. Spock or Leonard Nimoy.........go figure. Anyway Rest In Peace Leonard.

I rarely care when a celebrity passes but this one really took the wind out of my sail. Grew up watching SToS and it influenced by nerdness a lot.

Let's not forget "Catlow", an odd experience for those of us who only thought of Nimoy as Spock.

Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Spock . . .   these two "took the wind out of me", too, Grenadier.

He will live long and prosper forever now.

I grew up with reruns of the Original Series and TNG, and remember Leonard Nimoy exclusively from his appearances from them.  I've enjoyed seeing him in the Trek reboot films, and it's going to be hard to imagine Star Trek without him.

If anyone is interested, tonight on METV they will be doing a Leonard Nimoy Remembrance.  A bunch of shows that he appeared in.  Yesterday's Rawhide, he played an Indian.  ( Wasn't very Spock like )
One that they showed to be on was a Combat episode.
Just thought some might like to know.

In Spock he created a character, and the racial characteristic of all Vulcans, that hasn't been, and probably never will be, matched.

Mark Lenard who played Sarak, Spock's father, and Zachary Quinto, who played a young Spock in Star Trek Into Darkness, both came close.  Quinto almost nailed it.

Tim Russ was embarrassingly bad as a Vulcan.

Most others played Vulcans as emotionless, but also played them without any personality whatsoever.  Some were were so severe that they came across as almost 'angry' personalizations.

I never got into "Enterprise", so sadly am unaware of her character. But from you, Major 2, that's got to be a good recommendation.

I'll agree with this one.  Towards the end of the show, she did start to explore her character more, and drift away from the pure Vulcan aspects.  That said, I felt that it was a nice change, and was quite, well, Logical.  ::)
