Tornados new SHOOTIN' IRON ..... it's a doozey!
« on: February 14, 2015, 08:22:55 AM »

Uberti Dragoon with a Kirst conversion in a very LARGE chambering. He coined the term "45 BRIMSTONE" and I kinda like it ;D
It's correct express nomenclature is: .45-60-250 BP

Features include a Rocky Mountain front sight, Walker length cylinder installed, Forcing cone mods, Action work, Custom Engraved nomenclature and Trigger job.

Had a chance to lay hands on this beast earlier in the week. Would make Tom Dunphy proud!

A friend on mine, found one ( in 45 Colt ) at the local FFL on consignment .... snapped it up before I got there and saw it.  :(
Pretty sure is was by Hoof , in any case it a well fitted Kirst , with Hoof's quality all through it.

Here is a picture of it with another of one of Hoof's creations,  the Dragoon makes an '60 Army look like a .22.

That is one swell example of Artillery.  However, let us not forget, Tornado is gonna need TWO of em to shoot Gunfighter.  With just one, he will fall over to the "heavy" side  ;D

In the mean time I could duct tape 1.5lb of weight to my other wrist to balance me out.

I didn't test it enough for accuracy.  I only fired 15 rounds with two different bullets and three different charges.  I tried to shoot it duelist half the time too, after 2-3 rounds my hand was bouncing all over  :-\ (I need to eat more Wheaties).  With all those excuses I would guess it was about 3" high at 7 yards.

I was just lurking on the "other" forum and was astounded.  The question was asked if anyone was using the Brimstone cartridge.  Even though it was noted the cartridge was developed in 2010, no one was real familiar with it.
Then the reaction was a discussion of it's legality for CAS shooting.
Then the discussion of the applicability of the term "Magnum" to a BP round.
Then the derision just continued without the consideration of just how ABSOLUTELY NEAT the Brimstone Dragoon is.
And one of the noted "experts" digressed on how Illegal the round would be/was for CAS.  Even though CAS specifies bore size and velocity but in no way limits the case the bullet is carried in.  I could conceivably neck down a 105 Howitzer case to .45 and as long as I kept the velocity under 1000 FPS, it'd be legal.  Hard to carry around, but legal.
The .45 Brimstone does however, bring new meaning to the descriptive "warthog" moniker.

Gary comes up with some of the absolute neatest toys.  That big walker is just some kind of really KOOL.  My only objection to it is ......
it isn't MINE!!!!

Aw Shucks.
I just couldn't help myself.  The Devel made me do it.  I was hijacked.  There, those are the excuses.
I just hadda go back next door and start some "stuff."  First, to openly criticize Gary's work just ticks me off.  To bad mouth (or keyboard) the fine work of another is just RUDE!!
So when it came to Illegal claim, I just couldn't hold myself back (didn't try) and said in so many words .... "prove it."
It doesn't matter one bit how practical it is.  It's just plain Damn NEAT!!
