The "Road Agent Spin" and "Curly Bill Spin" (same thing) has to my knowledge never been done before by anyone drawing straight from the holster like I do in this video. This is strictly for fun and demonstration purposes, I don't recommend nor encourage any attempt to replicate my technique of draw with a loaded revolver.

I'm using twin nickel plated, Pietta .44 cal, 1860's, with stainless, fluted, cylinders. The shorter barreled 1858 Rem Uberti .44, you can see (once) flipped in the air but mostly in my shoulder holster.

I recommend watching it in full screen. I taught my draw to the actor "Brahm" and he is going to be using it  in the pre production, upcoming spaghetti western called "Fist of Guanto".
He contacted me due to my earlier other YouTube videos of my special draw and gives me credit for the draw technique in his film.
They also have a facebook, Twitter and YouTube page for "Fist of Guanto" which I include the links of below, and are currently in editing for the preview short (to gain financial backers) the preview which is called "Shoot in any direction and you'll hit a bastard" and the planned full length film will be called "Fist of Guanto".

I am not a spokesperson for the proposed preview short nor feature movie and I am not IN the movie (although I'd luv that! Lol), and I do not receive any payment in any way for inventing and inspiring the butt forward drawing directly from the holster that is going to be used in the movie. I am honored someone liked it enough to want to put it into a movie and I was glad to advise and help with my draw technique.

First below, my latest video that I AM in and hosting.

This one is a repeated segment from the above video followed by a slow motion of the same segment. Gives you a chance to study it closely.

You may also like my other much earlier videos on this draw I developed, at these links...

Below, the e mail from the actor (Brahm) who will be using my draw technique in the film short and feature, as well as links to their social media sites about the upcoming spaghetti western.

"Hey Bill thanks for swapping emails with me. So once we began actually shooting the movie the decision was kind of made to take down a lot of the behind the scenes "footage" as to not discourage anyone from how the actual finished product will look (vastly superior than the test footage in theory). We are now deep in post production, been editing for what seems like months... oh wait... it has been months... and to think this is only the "short" film which is supposed to ignite a feature (aka some financing). The short is titled "Shoot In Any Dircetion And You'll Hit A Bastard" and the proposed feature is called "Fist Of Guanto". There will be a couple of good draws in the completed short, including the Archimedes Screw which I will personally confirm at any given moment was directly inspired by the Bill Akins draw as our screen test video proclaimed. Let me know if there is anything specific I can do for you along these lines my friend. In the meantime please feel free to follow our progress at the following links, in fact we would appreciate it!"

While interesting, it would be instant disqualification and invitation to not return if actually used in any CAS match I know of.

You're right, RRIO, I doubt that safety of it all concerned him one iota.

Well Duh! Did you miss the title of my post that said: "Video, the Bill Akins spin draw from the holster. Just for fun and demonstration", and also the text in my post where I said: " This is strictly for fun and demonstration purposes, I don't recommend nor encourage any attempt to replicate my technique of draw with a loaded revolver."

My special draw I demonstrated in my videos was used by Brahm in his movie. It was not intended for CAS matches nor to be done with a loaded revolver (blanks excepted).

River City John, are you a special kind of stupid or something? Or do you just get your jollies out of being ignorant and crapping on people's threads because you're jealous you can't draw and spin like that and have your special spin draw used in a western movie too? Again, (and for the second time) did you miss the title of my post that said: "Video, the Bill Akins spin draw from the holster. Just for fun and demonstration", and also the text in my post where I said: "This is strictly for fun and demonstration purposes, I don't recommend nor encourage any attempt to replicate my technique of draw with a loaded revolver." Of course I was concerned about safety you jack wagon missing a few wheel spokes! That's why my muzzle loading revolvers weren't loaded and I demonstrated them in my videos for the actor Brahm to study my draw for his western movie. You needlessly insulted me by your saying to RRio that I did not have one iota of concern for firearm safety.

Tell you what there Einstein, why don't you write a letter to Clint Eastwood telling him that you: "doubt that safety of it all concerned him one iota" when he Curley Bill spun his 1847 Colt Whitneyville Walkers in his movie "The Outlaw Joey Wales". That would make about as much sense as you did here. Sheeez. It never ceases to amaze me of the capacity of some people to not read what a post says and to say stupid things that contradict the title as well as the text the original author wrote! People like that shouldn't even be allowed to handle a gun much less be allowed to handle a gun around others in matches if their mental processes are that flawed.

Here's another video of me practicing drawing and spinning into my holster my (unloaded) Uberti .45 Colt 1873 peacemakers, for you to criticize and say ignorant things about because you're jealous and want to say something negative. Well go ahead, "I'm your huckleberry".

The response is rude & belligerent.  :o

So was his insulting me for no reason saying I was not concerned with firearm safety. I didn't see you admonish him for that rudeness, or do you play favorites here? I'd say my response was warranted. Maybe he'll learn to comprehend what someone types in their thread title as well as the text of their original post next time before he needlessly insults them.

Well fine. You back your insulting buddy up. After your post to me showing how you play favorites for your buddy and telling me you reported my post to the moderator, I've also reported River City John's insulting post to the moderator too. He started this by HIM being rude and belligerent by him insulting me for no reason saying I didn't have one iota of concern for firearm safety. So we'll see if moderation is done fairly here or if they play favorites like you obviously do since you didn't admonish him for his insulting me that elicited my response that was warranted. Read his response to RRIO where he was being a smart alec to him also regarding me. River City John insulted me for no reason when I had never said a word to him previous to his insult. But you're obviously okay with that and like to play favorites.

Hey pard, I gotta tell ya the truth, your response is over the top. I am positive that RCJ did not mean to ruffle your feathers with his comment. If anything, it was to point out that SASS or NCOWS officials would have baby kittens about that type of draw, and that is pure fact. I've seen shooters escorted off the range for less.

I really did not see the insult, and as far as playing favorites, most of us here at CasCity have been here a really long time, and we know each other. Give time and you will see this is a fine site to be at and make good friends. If you can't accept that, this may not be the place for you.

Of course my comment wasn't intended to be rude, just opinionated. ;)

It struck me, there are too many Newbies coming to CAS City who might think to try it at a match and say "But there was a video on this Cowboy Action Shooting website showing how to do it, so I assumed it must be OK."
Or worse yet, some veteran Yahoo who tries it even thought knowing better. (I never underestimate the power of my fellow man for making bad decisions.)

But I will admit I am a bit prejudiced, too, as I am NCOWS through-and-through, and our By-Laws are very clear about no twirling, no breaking the 170º and no fanning. I spoke out of turn assuming SASS would have similar restrictions, but I really don't know.

As the "The Shooting Range" Forum is " . . . for subjects gun related", -your post, Gunmaster, was appropriate. I apologize if my post deemed out of line.

RRio -CasCity Deputy Marshall

RRio, no one in their right mind would think I would use that spin draw in SASS, CAS, or NCOWS matches. My thread title SPECIFICALLY STATED "Video, the Bill Akins spin draw from the holster. Just for fun and demonstration" and then further on in the text of my original post I also wrote: "This is strictly for fun and demonstration purposes, I don't recommend nor encourage any attempt to replicate my technique of draw with a loaded revolver" so River City John KNEW full well that my spin draw was for demonstration purposes only and would not be attempted in any kind of match shooting. But instead of appreciating it for the artistic draw it is and the practice it takes to master it he had to say something negative, and if he had BOTHERED TO READ my post and links he would have seen that my videos were to demonstrate my special spin draw to the actor and my friend Brahm Taylor for him to use in his award winning "Spaghetti" Western short named "Shoot in any direction and you'll hit a bastard". And he did use my draw and gave me credit for teaching it to him. So it was VERY apparent to anyone reading my original post and its links that this was for a movie and demonstration purposes only and that I nor anyone else would be using it with a loaded gun nor in any shooting match. He HAD TO KNOW THAT IF HE BOTHERED TO READ MY ORIGINAL POST AND ITS LINKS, which he appears to have done since he felt the need to comment on it and he just HAD to say something negative (to YOU RRio) when he wrote to you: " it would be instant disqualification and invitation to not return if actually used in any CAS match I know of",,,,,. When DUH! Thanks for the unnecessarily negative comment Captain Obvious when he knew full well no one would ever use a draw like that in any shooting match and he knew full well that my special draw was for demonstration purposes only and to instruct an actor in a spaghetti western movie how to do it for dramatic effect! But he just HAD TO say something negative.

Then you jokingly and factiously told him: "I'm sure that would have just broken his heart.  :(". But then he responded to you knowing full well what you meant but still wanting to say something negative (again) and (this time) insulting about me, even though I had never spoken to him before, so he smart alec-ly said his insult towards me of: "You're right, RRIO, I doubt that safety of it all concerned him one iota."

And now you're going to back him up and defend him RRio and tell me about how lots of you all know each other and are friends and that somehow excuses him while you have the nerve to admonish me instead of him? Seriously!!?? That's pretty messed up logic plus an admitting of playing favorites on your part RRio. Listen, I registered here January 13, 2011, and thus have been a member for the last 12 years. So just because I mostly read and don't post that often I deserve the same respect as anyone else here and River City John insulted me with his comment: "You're right, RRIO, I doubt that safety of it all concerned him one iota." You said you really didn't see his insult to me RRio? Well there it is.

I'm an old Marine vet. I take crap from no one. Anyone insults me for no valid reason, I give it right back to them. And I don't take kindly to others covering up for their buddy and admonishing me when he was the one who started this with his negative comments and insult saying how I'm not concerned with firearms safety. You want to be friends with me then you don't give me unnecessary and unwarranted negative comments and insults. Otherwise expect it to come right back at ya. I'm normally a nice guy, but yeah RRio, I believe River City John knew EXACTLY that he WAS trying to ruffle my feathers. Well congrats River City John, you did. You happy now? And RRio, as for you telling me my response was over the top, well that's just your opinion isn't it? I think my response was actually very measured to what I could have deservedly unleashed on him. And if you or the Major 2 don't like it because you want to excuse your buddy's insults but don't like my MEASURED responses, then that's just tough. I'm normally a nice guy, and can be a good friend, but like I said, I take crap from no one. I deserve an apology from River City John for him insulting me and an apology from Major 2 and you also RRio for trying to ignore, cover up for and excuse his negative comments and insults while admonishing me for my responses!

RRio you said to me: "this is a fine site to be at and make good friends. If you can't accept that, this may not be the place for you."
"Hey pard", you don't make friends by making negative comments about someone's post when the author went to extreme lengths to say (twice) that this was for fun and demonstration purposes only and not to be used with loaded guns and also since my links showed and proved I did these videos for an actor to learn my spin draw for a western movie he wanted to use my spin draw in. If someone is so dense they can't understand that, but instead make negative comments and then add in an insult, then I don't care to be friends with them, and if you or they think it's okay for them to make negative remarks like that and then to also actually INSULT me with accusing me of not caring about firearm safety..............then perhaps if you can't accept that is wrong, this may not be the place for YOU. I give back the same respect or lack of respect that I'm given. We clear "partners"?

"Deescalate" the moderator says? Sure, now that I've laid out what actually happened and exposed the B.S. and ignoring and covering up for their buddy favoritism going on. I'm not the FNG (google it or ask a vet) so don't treat me like one. We clear?

(Edit added, since River City John made a post and apologized while I was writing and posting this post. I accept your apology River City John, but you still pretty much ruined my thread and took all the joy and fun out of it as well as created the situation where I see favoritism goes on at this site and it's even admitted like that's a good thing! I carefully read your last post and I think that anyone who gets into a handgun match at any of the various Cowboy action or single action shooting organizations will be cognizant that they can't do a spin draw so I don't think your worries you admitted to that ruined my thread are realistically warranted since anyone joining those matches will no doubt have read and be aware of the rules (and common sense) to not let their barrel's muzzles "sweep" anyone).

Gunmaster, I wish I had known you back in the days when I was doing stunt work and gunfights at  the Old West Towns that we had out here. We had Rawhide, Pinnacle Peak Patio, Reata Pass, and Apacheland Movie Ranch. The customers would have loved that gun work. Alas, those day are way behind me. Very cool. :)
