Keep that lifter clean
« on: January 25, 2015, 09:22:55 PM »
See my posts in the Dark Siders Den on .45 Colt blow back in the 1860. It takes  a lot of work fire forming .44-40 cases to accept .454” bullets (Big Lube® 200 grain) and a case full to the bullet base of FFFg,  but leaves the lifter nice and clean and is an easy cleanup with a bore snake and moose milk.

I have made hits on a 100 yard Cody/Dixon target just to see if I could.  However the .45 Colt is not a legal C/D caliber, unfortunately.

Mine is a steel frame model just for a different look but is period correct and rare.

Respectfully submitted

Correction that is .452" boolets. Using .44-40 cases expanded to hold .452 Big Lube (TM) boolets and as much FFFg as you can stuff in the case works very well and the lifter stays clean.
