On my "strange but cool" list is this one. I've actually seen one of these in flight.

When I was still sorta a young'in I saw one of these Vulcans at an airshow at Mitchell field in Milwaukee WI.  It was doing figure eights over airshow center, and staying within the airport boundries.

Looked like a big manta ray!  Couldn't believe it stayed airborne!!!!

Had an SR-71 taking off from Kadena pass over my Fiat 600D at about 300 feet above Highway #1.  Poor little car shook its nuts (and bolts) off.  I didn't hear anything for three whole days.  Plane went supersonic about a half mile offshore.

We called 'em "Habu" on Okinawa...everyone else called them "Blackbird."

I was standing in the parking lot of the "Electronic Security Command" at Kelly AFB when that thing flew over. I stood and stared until it was out of sight. The only thought that came to mind to describe it was "pregnant guppy." I laughed really hard when I was told it was the aircraft's name.

The armament would would really make it cool.  Corse machine guns are more fun when uncle sam is buying the ammo. ::)

Gads, I once took a hop from San Vito to Iraklion in a C-135. We sat on canvas straps that ran the length of the plane. My rear was numb from vibration for a week.
