« on: November 13, 2014, 05:48:00 PM »
I have a Spencer rifle with the serial number 4831. Does anyone know if it was assigned to a unit or individual?

Hi Stanjone,

Are you planning to join my Spencer Shooting Society ::) ::)   If yes, then I can look up your serial # for you . . . but, you need to really join SSS, first ;D

I'll take the time to look up your serial #, if you'll take the time to join my Spencer Shooting Society, and agree to post photos of your Spencer Rifle.  Just register on SSS, or send me an Email or PM telling me that you want to join us ;D  ;D

serial #4821 was issued to the same unit as Stanjone's rifle, the 72nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry, Company A, in 1864.

4820 was a private purchase rifle used by Capt. Joseph Blackburn of the 5th Tenn Cav. USA.
