40-60wcf 210gr.bp load

Had the 1876 Winchester cal. 40-60wcf at the 100yd. range today for a check of the sights .The load today was 40-60wcf Jamison brass Lg. rifle primer std. 55gr. Swiss 2ff bp. by volume and the Winchester mould cast 210gr. soft lead bullet @ .406. Home lube bees wax tallow and olive oil mix. Shot the old rifle Circa 1884 off the sand bags for this group the 5 shot group at top of target. I'd say the old 76 is ready for the up-coming hunt. DT.

 Dusty,, just you go a'head and enjoy yer self,,and don't even give me a secnd thought,,,,cause some day ,,,i'll have ( this is where I'm wip'n tears from my wittle eyes) a 76,in 40/60,, now I don't think I can shoot as tight a pattern as the one you just posted ,,but it'll be funnnn try;n. The best to you no your up coming hunt. (  I think ,,I left out a LOL after wittle eyes).

Dusty, I just looked at the UPS tracking number and my 40/60 will be here tomorrow, when I get reloading
stuff for it I'll probably start with your load. Good luck with your hunting, I'm a little jealous as we can't
use centerfire rifles here for anything but coyotes.

Had some luck this past wk. Took two wild pig and a Wt. buck with the 1876 Winchester 40/60wcf using the 210 gr. bullet and Swiss bp. load. One shot high in the spine at about 75yd. The second in the neck to end it all.,,,,, DT

Thanks King! Yes Sir Slamfire they are gaining ground every day! Here is a pic. of a small sow taken with the Winchester 1876 40/60wcf. Same load at about 85 yd. one shot through the neck . She went down on the spot!,,,,,DT

I sure will Mr. pinto beans. Like Pony Express said , Its hog roasting time in Texas . I have smoked some hocks and belly meat or bacon, and cooked up some pinto beans with peppers and onions. A big pot of that is our camp special ! ,,,,,,DT
