Cartridge Conversion page !!!
« on: October 21, 2014, 09:23:07 AM »
Okay

I have obviously been on the couch too long (maybe I am losing my mind). Instead of climbing the walls (can't cause I am too sore from surgery) and instead of arguing/poking at the wife, I have made the jump into the raging river of facebook  :o
So take a look at the page I started and "like" me? Hope I am getting this lingo correct.............

This page is meant to mirror my Website and the more "likes" it gets the more people we will reach and bring into our sphere of STORM. Pop over there and post something we need to re-invigorate the ranks!
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cartridge-Conversion-Revolvers/726097890808536

I have also started a page that I want to use somewhat like a forum but also like a blog. Use this space to ask questions regarding conversions and such and feel free to link back to the pages here on CAS City. This will be moderated by me and I will be looking for another friend or two to help if it grows into the need.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/hoofhearted/

Thanks, HH

HH,

I don't do the facebook thing either.
But, if it keeps you out of trouble with the Wife, or curbs the desire to kick the dog, I would say go for it.

Still trying to figure out if pettifogger's first sentence was grammatically correct ???
Is it; I like you.....or.......I, like you.............

I have been a contributor on many firearms forums for many, many years and I am now witnessing many of them declining. A buddy of mine who is an 07 manufacturer and i were discussing this and he attributes it to face book! I will tell you that between the "mall cop" mentality of many of the moderators, the dead picture links because of the photobucket and image shack nonsense of trying to become corporate giants (ATT cell phones are becoming this way also), then there is the crap associated with the buddy system mentality of welching on deals and multiple user names to "pose" as feedback I am trying to get ahead of the curve!

I sure do think there is a place for this forum and all the others but I also wanted to establish my domain (not stepping on the Marshal's toes, heck he did the same thing with the formation of CAS City).

Feel free to be a part of making something good and I promise you I will monitor the thread in a professional manner. There will be no shenanigans or there will be a "neck tie party".

I will be posting my services over there and my parts as well as items for sale and completed pistols. Please feel free to tell your friends and pass along the links if you know someone interested and of course if you are selling something "cross post" it on my page.

I ain't leaving here, y'all can't get rid of me that easy!

Now I'm not so sure I like you anymore.  Kinda like the teacher who corrected the grammar in a kid's suicide note but didn't mention anything about the suicide.   ;)

HH,

Like I said, I don't do Facebook.
If you start a posting or thread on Facebook, (like what you are doing) are you able to manage/moderate it yourself?

My reason for asking this is because from what I have seen and/or experienced with Facebook, there is no help from the staff that runs/operates Facebook in this area?
Without Facebook staff support to help you manage/moderate you own thread, I can see where this could be something like an act of suicide, as Pettifogger maybe suggesting?
I am just basing that thought off of my own experience I have had with Facebook.

Actually the way I understand it; I have ultimate control, I can delete posts, delete threads and ban users. This isn't actually moderating since I can't edit the posts of others but I guarantee you it will be controlled. There is one simple rule (all the others are because people didn't follow the first and the "moderator" made another rule); RIGHT IS RIGHT, WRONG IS WRONG. Translation; do the right thing if you don't you no longer get to play.

Greetings My Dear Hoof -
I am most gratified to see you are not only still amongst us, but getting back online as well.

Unfortunately, whilst the buzz amongst the great unwashed is that FaceBook is the be-all end-all, I myself shun it.
Facebook is well known amongst we computer geeks to be far more evil than google vis-a-vis actively harvesting all your data possible,
AND cross-correlating it with other data harvested via bots and then SELLING IT .

Further , I find that the layout of Facebook is good only for those with ADD ( attention deficit disorder, or as we call it "short attention span theater). It offer tiny snips of crap and no depth, cohesion, or linear trail that  I can discern.

However, it is very popular with children who have no concept ( and do not care about ) interweb privacy, and whose attention span does not last past a twitter tweet.

I personally prefer seeing blogs or conventional websites and forums.

However, i also own many thousands of paper and cardboard and leather printed books, so that shows you how much I know...

I actually have the ability to delete any post to either page that I think is unfounded.

Hoof Hearted,

I too got it!
Posting access to your web site works just fine for me.
I gave up on facebook , as a bad idea, 10 years ago. I wont re-join for any reason.
But, then that is only based off of my past experience.
My best to you and good luck.

Facebook is what you make of it. You can get distracted having political arguments with idiots but where else can I get a "happy birthday" message from my best friend in grade school who I haven't seen in 25yrs?

Craig............you are exactly right!
The politicos are normally some dorky chubby kid with acne and Star Wars figures glued to the top of his monitor, hiding behind his bad a$$ self (hope I didn't describe one of y'all ;)) and the biggest problems I get into are more related to the horse genre (some here in the states but even more abroad) who believe hunting is evil ! They all feel they have a right to JUDGE others for their opinions and hobbies and that all life has the same value.............I LOVE to shame them for judging others. They have a hard time with "oxymorons"
