Black Hawk hammers
« on: September 11, 2014, 01:20:21 PM »
Will the regular Black Hawk hammers, NOT the Super Black Hawk hammers, fit the New Vaquero? I know the Super Black Hawk is a drop in, but will the regular Black Hawk drop in too?

Yes.  Subject to the standard qualification that it is a drop in until it doesn't.  (Sometimes even "drop-in" parts wind up needing fitting.)

Thanks, Pettifogger!

Now, in another post showing three different hammers in a row, does the CURRENT standard Black Hawk hammer look more like pic two, notched for transfer bar and no half cock notch?

Isn't the first pic an older model three screw hammer? Does the old model Vaquero use the same hammer as the three screw Black Hawk? I thought all Vaqueros used a transfer bar and the hammer face was rebated for the bar.

Kind of hard to respond.  What picture are you talking about from what other post?

The hammer on the left is a Boogie Stroke hammer.  It will fit a Vaquero or Blackhawk.  Vaquero and Blackhawk hammers are basically the same.  The hammer in the middle is a stock New Vaquero hammer.  The hammer on the right is a Super Black Hawk hammer that has been modified to have a half-cock notch.  The primary purpose of the photo was to show the differences in the spur shapes.
