Shooting original ammo

I've lurked here a while and seen several posts about folks who fired original Spencer ammo through their guns.  What amazes me is how FEW misfires occur!
My own experience is with a NM Rifle I used to own.  I ran across a 49rd brick of original non-headstamped ammo at a yard sale many years ago (1980's).  The cartridges were almost pristine, with some sort of waxy finish, packed in 7-rd boxes.  When I later acquired the rifle, I had no idea that ammo was scarce.  So, I shot most of it off.  Every round went bang with no hesitation.  While I know that the ammunition was still made into the 1920's, I still find this pretty amazing.

While I cannot recommend shooting off the increasingly rare ammo, I know some of you have done it.  What were your experiences?  If you know what the maker of the ammo was, let us know.

I have a box of original 56-50 blanks.  I did shoot one of them and it went boom.
