Major 2,

Thanks.
They are basically the same revolver.
A modified variation of the Uberti #3 model 3 Russian.

Howdy Major,
may I ask where you got the nice looking S&W grips for the Uberti S&W new model #3?  I've been thinking of changing out the wood grips with the uberti medallion.

Ok ...here is a comparison photo

Laramie above

my # 3 below

Both have S&W Grips installed
I am happy to see that the Taylors Frontier has a rear sight like the Russians and that it is changed from the blade type sight used on the Laramie

From what I've seen they offer both

Howdy Major,
may I ask where you got the nice looking S&W grips for the Uberti S&W new model #3?  I've been thinking of changing out the wood grips with the uberti medallion.

I also bought some walnut plugs, popped out the Uberti emblem ( easy from the back side ) and filled the hole with the plug
sanded it down and re-finished.... made a right nice look.
Still prefer the Look, feel & grip if the S&W checker though.

I really like the black gotta percha grips with the S&W logo. Where did you pick up the replacement grips? Thanks

I am gonna try out a set of them grips!

I also saw on GB that there was one of the new New Models from Taylors: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=473908747

I have a couple of the Beretta Laramies, and I am set.

Are the grips between a No. 2 and No. 3 interchangeable?

Slo' Poke Pete,

There is no No. 2 offered within the New Model No. 3 reproduction S&W type series of arms.
The Number designation is based off of the frame size. The Number 3's are of the large size frames, usually based on and around the 44 caliber. (.44 Henry rim fire, .44 American CF and the .44 Russian, and so on.) The No. 2's were .32 rim fire only and a much smaller frame size.
Model numbers such a "NO. 3 Model 3 Russian" is based off of a Model variation within that frame size.
The Model designation within S&W's can be very complex and confusing.
I hope this helps.
My best,
