They very conveniently cut the top off the picture so you can't see the manufacturer or the name of the powder.  Unless you have a ballistics lab to work up loads, I'd pass on this unknown powder.

Vihtavouri TIN STAR;  (NOT a Titegroup clone, it's nearer to Trail Boss)

Tin Star is certainly not like Titegroup.  It is more like Trail Boss.

As far as I know Tin Star is still produced and the Vitahvouri factory remains open after it was bought out by a German company. We just got a bunch of Tin Star in the shop the other day. It has a burn rate approximately the same as N320 but with almost 2 times the load density. Ie it fills more space up in the cartridge. It is OK as long as you don't try to make really light loads with large airspaces as it seems to need a relatively high chamber pressure to burn cleanly and the point at which it stops burning clean happens very quickly. It should absoloutly NOT be loaded like Trail Boss. Do NOT just fill up the case and stick a bullet on top. You will get over pressure and possibly a firearm failure. There is load data on the factories website:

Don't know the powder, but would not buy from that guy if I did. See he has a Marine Corps emblem above, I was in the Corps and never new a Marine that would try to screw a man like that. The guy selling it, is the same guy selling Trail boss for $300.00 for 5lbs. Thats $60.00 a jar, plus shipping, three times what it was before the scalpers came out. To bad companys can't produce more so guys like him could get put back in line.

cal44walker;  The Vihtavouri site shows the powder introduction,  but is omitted from the .45 colt data. I haven't checked the other calibers, yet.

Ok check with my contact and Tin Star may be continued, but how can it be compaired to Titegroup, as this thread started out stating.

Regardless, if the guy won't show the label, or provide the actual name and brand, I'd pass.

My mistake.  I just reacted  with the only European powders I am currently aware of.

Thanks;  I thought there might be a number but had no clue which one.  I probably won't use it but my son living in England might.
