Taylor's Wild Bunch 1911

I apologize for not being in full costume, but I thought you'd enjoy seeing this Taylor's Tactical 1911 anyway. It is their classic model for Wild Bunch shooters.

Hi Mike-Good video-as I sit here watchin it, makes my finger trigger itch. BUT-its 2136 hrs here in Iowa as I watch and dark out, so I'll just havta' enjoy your video. Nice 'sky piece'! Have same hat (original military) I picked up at a gun show back I think in the early 80's. The vendor had a double stack of them, selling for $5.00 each. I steamed and curled the sides (Lee Marvin style), stuck a 'full bird' colonel emblem in the front hole, and put a gold braid hat band I got from a state trooper friend on it. It's my favorite shootin, going to gun show, and being different hat! From the prices I see the originals going for, I should have bought both stacks!!! Crow Choker

Good on ya', Mike for not being afraid to post your misses with a new, stock gun. Your Kentucky windage recovery proves both you and the gun.

That looked like a healthy, non-gamer load. What was it?

Mike,

Great video and photo's!  I am pondering the fender washers though, I cannot find anywhere to put those in my 1911 ;-)

Thanks Mike.  As for the washers, they are just a bag full of holes.

Mike,
Am considering one of these for WB.  It's been a year since your original post.  Wondering how the gun has held up to competition use.

I opt'ed for the Cimarron , same Manufacturer , different Importer & bell & whistles .
It has digested , factory ball & jacketed hollow point, and more importantly my reloads .

I've shot it a lot , but not Wildbunch...yet ! ;)  I give two thumbs up !

Just a fyi, the magazine shown with the Cimarron is not legal for use in Wild Bunch competition, no base pads allowed on the magazines.  The magazine shown with the pile of washers is legal, no base pad and it fits flush with the bottom of the mag well.

Actually that is a good point , The glamour photo I provided is from the Web Site, the other with Campaign hat is mine and Note: I covered the offending magazine's floor for the shot .
What I did do , is order 5 package Chip McCormick SHOOTING STAR CLASSIC MIL SPEC MAGS  # 14310  off of E bay they had not arrived at the time.
Truth is I've never fired the gun with the OEM padded base magazine.
But the Chip McCormick's run flawlessly and were 5 for $62 shipped  :D

The Cimarron comes with two mags. An 8 round one with a base plate bumper and one with a lanyard ring. It's pretty simple to get more magazines without bumpers. I soaked the upper half of my lanyard ring mag in vinegar to remove the blueing. Now it's 2 tone just like the originals.  ;)

Anyone know if there is a WB legal base plate made to fit these mags?  I contacted ARMSCOR, the manufacturer.  They Referred me to Brownells or Midway USA.  Called both of them.  Neither of them were able to help me with either ARMSCOR or Taylors and Company products.

I've not heard of anyone changing the baseplate on the Armscor mags.  If it is for Wild Bunch, you are gonna need a bunch of mags anyway, just go buy some.

I have plenty of magazines.  But if I can make these functional for a couple bucks each, it is well worth it.  Probably others out there with the same question.

I see.  They are pretty good mags I think, at least they worked fine on mine for general non WB use.  So, if you figure out how to change that baseplate, be sure to let us know how  :)

Been waiting to Post until ARMSCOR came through.  I recontacted them after Brownells and Midway USA both told me no base plates were available.  ARMSCOR told me to send the two magazines back and they would replace them with the proper mags.  They sent me return labels.  I received the proper mags in the mail today.  Gotta say, I was impressed with the way they handled it  Thanks ARMSCOR.
