Very nice! Were short rifles strictly special order or did winchester offer them as a catalog item?

Some, like my original, were shortened on behalf of the owner after purchase.  I am only the third owner in over a Century. It is a great "NO ALIBI" rifle.

Thanks for the picture of your Rifle and gear . Have you shot yours very much . I plan on shooting my short rifle and my Cimmarron pistol this morning .

Yes, Rowdy, I do shoot that gun a lot--it's just too much fun not to.  When I first took it out to shoot, my comment was, "This gun is hungry!"  It likes to "eat" a lot of ammunition.  I don't shoot CAS, but I do shoot a fair amount and that is probably my favorite gun to shoot.  I have a 4 3/4 inch Pietta Frontier in 44WCF as a companion too.  With the scarcity of pistol powder these days, I've tapered off on my shooting, rationing out what I have, but I'm hoping to increase again before too long.

Have you tried any Triple 7 , If you have trouble getting smokeless this is another choice ? BUT can you still get Triple 7 ?

Don't use 777, it about killed my Uberti Bisleys.

How did it almost kill your Bisleys ? I have used it in my 73 and I didn't have no problems . Did you use 3f or2f ?

FFFg.  I loaded it up like normal BP behind a 165gr bullet in my 44-40s, after 15 rounds all of the screws in both revolvers backed out    I believe the bottles state not for use in cartridges.  777 in FFFg was actually pretty nice in my C&B guns.

As you now know 777 is HOT . I have used the 2f in my 44wcf and it was pretty hot I was able to get 1300 fps with it . Which was what I was wanting for the Vintage Hunting Load .

Jimbob, I believe it's only the 3F that says not for cartridge use. They only recommend 2F for cartridge. I've used a lot of it in my '66 carbine. But I don't like it much in my .45 SAA, I use it in .45 Schofield cases in that to tame it down a bit.
