True West Magazine?
« on: June 03, 2014, 06:38:19 AM »
This weekend at the three day Tri-State Championships up here in Massachusetts, the grab bag contained a copy of True West magazine. I thought this magazine was fantastic and just subscribed for a year. Lots of great stuff on their home page for free.

Just thought I'd give a Shout Out to a sponsor for our events.

Have they given up the comic book inserts, fantasy stories and such nonsense? I read that magazine years ago but stopped when they turned into more of a fantasy mag.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Bob Boze Bell has owned True West since 1999. Parts of the magazine are good. The problem is that a big part of the mag seems to be a travel guide with few stories about the "old west".

An excellent magazine.   I look forward to it every month.   And I visit the "True West Forum" daily.  Always interesting and informative stuff about the old west.

I thought it might be more dime novel type of literature but I was surprised, when I gave it a chance, that it had very informative articles of old west history. I will buy it again in the future.

The advertising is a prime element in the financial support of the magazine.  :)

All in all a pretty good magazine. Don't know what it was like years ago as I'm in the second year of a subscription, but I find the historical articles well written and researched. Will continue my subscription.   Navy Six

A couple of years back I bought a bunch of back issues of True West Magazine for a reasonable price.  ( $40 for twenty issues including postage ? . . something about like that. ) . . .  When they arrived I found that included was the Wyatt Earp issue that goes used for   240.00 !  What a treat.  It is a very good issue.   :)

My mistake . . shud have been  $ 240.00   Still a LOT for a magazine back issue.  It was very, very good and there was a limited printing back in the early days of the magazine ( when taken over by BB Bell ) . . . . so it goes high when someone will sell a copy.  I won't sell mine.

Rick . . . you can read it when you come down to visit with me.   :)
