I disagree with the comment about sweat bands not being meant to be flipped in and out, many a good hat has been damaged because it has not been flipped out when it is damp.   The first thing I do when i get an old hat in my hands is put some good leather dressing (my preferance  https://www.obenaufs.com/heavy-duty-lp-8oz) on the leather and let it sit for a couple days before I do anything else.

Yea but you would disagree with a hard turd, you ole salty dog~~ :D :D  Gonna order some of that leather stuff though.. :)

And on a lot of things I do know what I'm talking about or I wouldn't say it.  Custom hatters tell you to turn out the sweat band.

BTW that stuff is good on chapped hands, makes a good balm for chapped lips and I bet it would also make good lube for black powder, even smells and tastes fine.

MSDS says there is nothing even remotely harmful in it.
