Almost ready to sign up
« on: April 16, 2014, 05:10:34 PM »
Ok, I've got the 56-50 Starline brass from Graf's...check. I've got bullets from Buffalo Arms...check. I've got the Blakeslee cartridge box and sling from Ridge Runner...check. I've got dies and a shell holder from Track of the Wolf...check. I've got plenty of primers and the Holy Black...check. Now all I need is a bloody rifle. :'(

Now all I need is a bloody rifle. :'(

So you are looking for a rifle, not a carbine?  Original .56-50 carbines are readily available from multiple sources.  Rifles take a little more looking and usually a few more coins.  But they are out there.  Tell us what you are looking for and maybe we can help locate one for you.

ndnchf, no it's the carbine I want. Just need to get to the gun shop to order it. Last couple of weeks at work have been hectic, I drive all over servicing cash registers. Hardest part is getting back into the home area before the shops close. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday.

OK got it.  I thought you were looking for an original rifle.  I understand how how hectic life can be.  Be sure to post sphotos when you get it!  We like photos ;D

Well, I done it. Finally found a carbine. ;D

Now just have to wait for it to get it. Here is the auction I won.

Anybody know anything about the Armi Sports with BLUED receivers?
Can't say I ever seen one with anything other than a case hardened one.

I noticed that and should have asked if that was a bonus incentive to bid, oh well.

;D Spencer arrived today and I just got home from picking it up. What can I say, it's gorgeous. Bluing is deep and dark, the wood has more burl to it than you can see in the auction photos. Almost looks more like a presentation gun. Will try to get some better pictures of it, but it's getting ready to rain here, again.

So I guess my question is again, has anyone else gotten or seen a blued Spencer?  ???

Marked as Chiappa for Taylors.

Well, here are a couple of pics of the Spencer, bottom of barrel is marked Chiappa for Taylors. Still haven't heard if anyone else has gotten a blued on vs a case hardened one.

And a couple more. Is the wood supposed to be this fancy?

Wow,   I"ve restocked ALL my shooting guns, ivory, XXXX presentation, etc.  Got the wood from Treebone.  Always good wood.
20 guns or more through the years, and others that I've fixed or restocked.
NOW.  THAT is a really nice piece of wood. Makes me wonder if someone, like me, wanted to do an 'upgrade'.
How is the wood to metal fit?  tight?  any sign of bonding agent, bedding compound etc.?

I didn't do that gun, but it looks like I would have been proud to claim it....

Make sure the breach and especially the tang is TIGHT to the stock.  If not, I'll tell you how to do a quick and easy bed to those areas.   but check first....
If you want, e mail me at kensantanello@comcast.net.
looks like you have a winner...enjoy....Ken

Yea, gotta admit its the fanciest Spencer I've seen as well. Stock appears to be tight and the wood to metal is spot on. I refuse to believe that I've got the only blued one out there, so somebody's got to have another. :D
