Buttstock Cleaning Rod
« on: March 24, 2014, 06:03:37 AM »
I once read on this forum that there is a European surplus cleaning rod that's a close approximation of the original Henry cleaning for that's housed in the buttstock. After numerous attempts to relocate this post, I am afraid to say I have been unsuccessful at locating it.

Do any of you good gentlemen know the model or country of origin of said rod?

Dixie used to sell one (might still).  I bought one; but it wouldn't fit in the butt-stock compartment in the Henry that I owned. :(

As Books said, the repro's do not seen to have this compartment bored out deep enough to allow the original type three piece cleaning rod to fit inside the stock.
This is based only on my experience. I do not honestly know if this is true for all Henry repro's.
S&S Firearms offers a very nice reproduction metal cleaning rod for the Henry.

I managed to snag two real nice brass ones from VTI several years back, just before the sold out and discontinued them.  Kinda funny when you pick up from vertical staging and the little door comes open.   :o   Don't ask how I know this  ::)

I got a 5 piece rod that fits my Uberti Henry just fine. Purchased from S&S. You have to take your time getting it in the butt recess, but with a little practice, it fits just fine.
