shooting 1865 carbine
« on: March 18, 2014, 08:49:07 AM »

All,
Took my 1865 carbine to range last weekend 50 yard target (56-50 center fire conversion).  First shot my son on the spotting scope says "six o'clock" really? "six o'clock in the ten ring"  I have to say I am always amazed at the accuracy and resilience of these firearms after 150 + years.  Most remaining shots in the black.  I think I am taking this deer hunting next year

I have a 65 Burnside made Spencer Carbine and It too is accurate....I recut the crown and the groups shrunk to nothing...
check your crown..    If you lived in MA, I would do it for you....no charge....I  had to buy the a.50 crown cutter and only used it once on mine anyway.........Ken
