Who do you recommend for color case hardening?
« on: February 18, 2014, 09:20:34 PM »
Howdy Pards

I am wanting to add some beauty to some of my revolvers and have them reblued and color caze hardened.
I got several quotes from variety of people offering.
Obviously Doug Turnbull is on the top of the list but I just can't go that high.
In my research I found a few who seem to do a nice job. Would you recommend any of those? Any experience?

RUN-N-IRON Customizing

I spoke with everyone of these and got about similar prices, some higher some lower.
Turbull quoted my SAA frame, gate and hammer at 350.00 plus shipping on top of course.

Also, do you recommend to nitre/fire blue the screws?
What say you all?

All help appreciated.

Run-N-Iron does nice, clean work, and did the hammers on my Colt SAAs - they matched the frame's colors perfectly.

Yes. I spoke with Mike Hunter. Very nice fella. He quote me the same price as John Gillette. Tough choice. I've seen his gallery and cch looks nice. Do you have any more photos of his work?

Very nice. I like those colors. Nickeled guns are pretty too, but CCH and blue on the revolver just look so sexy ;)

Pictures don't do them justice.  They are beautiful.  The blued parts were polished such that they have a "depth" to them.  The silver plated back strap and trigger guard almost "disappear" with the ivory grips on them.

Signal Mtn, gunworks in Roundup Mt, does a heck of a good job, and don't charge an arm and aleg.
