Uberti 1858 Rem and Blanks
« on: January 15, 2014, 10:23:28 AM »
I shot 2 rounds of 5 in 1 blanks, 44-40 cal. thru my Uberti 1858 Remington.  The primer had a demple on it but no bang. I put them in my Uberti Henry rifle and they shot fine.  A while back I shot 6 rounds of live 44-40 and had no problem at all.  Has anyone had any problems shooting blanks in their Uberti Rem?  Thanks.

Does the Remington conversion have a lighter than normal spring in it?  Sometimes whether or not a round goes off will be dependent on what primer is being used.  This may or may not be related to your problem but some blank ammo used in mounted shooting events is loaded with CCI primers, which I was told was because they were less likely to back out when fired.  This causes some misfires for some of the mounted shooters with lightened springs.

Abilene,  as far as I know it has the same spring as the cap and ball revolver.  No problem with live ammo.
I use 5 in 1 blanks from www.blanks.com  They are 100% in my Henry.  All primers are seated flush with the case.
