My dad was a trapper in Northern Saskatchewan in about 1932. That winter he managed to make his "grubstake".

I have a copy of a snapshot of him in front of his cabin, holding his 1894 rifle, .32 Special with "ski-jump" backsight.

In the case of this Movie, the term "found" refers to the price of the "trade goods" required to buy or other wise get/trade the white captives back.
(It does not include trading repeating rifles to the Indians)

Free board and meals

Slim

FWIW, "board" IS meals . . . "board & room" means a room with meals included.
