My son in law wants a storage thingy for Christmas and I can't find any sort of container that will suit.

Or something like that, a jar that is long enough, a small box.  I keep mine in one drawer of one of my benchtop tool boxes, it's divided up for several different sizes and types of long slender things.

   Pvc pipe,wrapped in,say elk hide or whatever works,capped on one end screw on ,on the other end.
That's how survivalists store thier rifles,oil them down,put them in a big length iof the right size PVC pipe screw the other end down,dig a hole strieght down shove the pipe with rifle in,buried! Make a map if ya do more than one

At home depot, they carry clear, plastic jar-like containers with flexible caps.  These are intended for dispensing string, but work great for holding bits and blades.  They come in different sizes.  They are inexpensive and look good.
