uberti 1858 new improved coversion in .45 colt
« on: August 27, 2013, 03:14:24 PM »
I have a pietta 1858 cap and ball . Its my favorite. I was looking at getting a conversion cylinder but to get one into Canada it's just as cheap to buy another gun. So I was looking at the uberti conversion in 45 colt. It also has the advantage of a loading gate and ejection rod. I was also was under the impression that this gun was actually built stronger than the black powder version. Is this true?

Well,  it has a forged frame and ordnance steel ....
I've had mind about 6 years just after they were introduced.... it is a sweet shooter.

I've got a consecutively #'d pair of those Uberti/Taylor's Remington conversions in 44-40, and they are definitely larger overall than the same gun in .44 percussion.
First time you put one into a holster specific for a .44 cap gun, you'll agree .....

The advantage of the .45 Colt conversions is that they can easily be switched back to .44 percussion, an option I don't have.
