Funeral Notice
« on: August 02, 2013, 07:08:31 AM »
Died, in Deadwood, Black Hills, August 2, 1876, from the effect of a pistol shot, J. B. Hickock (Wild Bill), formerly of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Funeral services will be held at Charley Utter's camp, on Thursday afternoon, August 3, 1876, at 3 o'clock. All are respectfully invited to attend."

Sleep on brave heart, in peaceful slumber,
Bravest scout in all the West;
Lightning eyes and voice of thunder,
Closed and hushed in quiet rest.
Peace and rest at last is given,
May we meet again in heaven.
Rest in peace

by John Wallace "Captain Jack" Crawford
I never, in my life, took any mean advantage of an enemy, but I never allowed a man to get the drop on me either.

I hear that that no-good bummer, Jack McCall has been acquitted by a miners' court! Personally, I say, there is no doubt he shot Mr. Hickok! Get a rope!  >:(
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

Your obedient servant,
Trailrider,
Bvt. Lt. Col. Commanding,
Southern District
Dept. of the Platte, GAF

They did. He was re-tried after the decision in the original trial was made null and void and set aside. If I remember correctly he was the first man hanged in Utah.
I will no longer respond to the rants of the small minded that want to sling mud rather than discuss in an adult manner.

Utah is a ways from Deadwood. He was hanged in Yankton, Dakota Territory.
