Name the Uberti 45-75 cartridge
« on: August 01, 2013, 10:26:57 AM »
Howdy Folks,

I have a Chappy in 45-75, with the Uberti size chamber.  Once fired brass in my rifle holds 3.2 grains more water than an un-fired Jamison 45-75 case.

I know others have the larger chamber as well.  I decided the higher capacity case needs a unique name to differentiate it from the original Winchester 45-75 round. So lets have some ideas.

My suggestions is 45-75 Improved.

Howdy Mr. Rings!

As the original was .45-75 WCF how about .45-75 UCF?  Improved is great too!

PB,

45-75 UCF is a good option.  Lets keep them coming.

Not bad for both  of them.  I, too, have the larger chamber and would not trade it for anything.  With the larger chamber, it almost makes it a pleasure to put in 76 grains of Swiss 1½ and shoot.  Note--I said almost!  I really have to lean towards the 45-75 Improved tho..

45-75 Basic
45-75 Improved

"Improved" is to modern for me. I would go for Express if it gave more power but i dont think that is the case.

I like UCF as it has a old feel to it.

Will give it some thought.

It's the .45-75 Uberti or .45-75 Italian.  The .45-75 was an express cartridge from the git-go.

45-75 Express sounds about right.  Go for it!

Howdy Folks,

As  FriscoCounty said the 45-75 WCF is an express cartridge, so that may be confusing.  Could do 45-75 ICF (Italian Center Fire)?

Other ideas.

I think you have done a lot for the 76 shooters , so what ever you decide to name it will be fine  with me . I want to thank you for  what you have done with the reloading data . I can remember when there was almost no loading data for the 76 calibers .

Rowdy,

I appreciate the complement.  I had a lot of fun trying loads for the 45-60.
