Miscast???

Although I really liked Russel Crowe in "Master and Commander," and in "Gladiator," I didn't think he fit his part in "3:10 to Yuma."  Seemed like he was still playing the even-handed and likeable Luck Jack, not a bad guy boss who could hold Charlie Prince in check.  Maybe others would disagree.  It is true, Crowe's character had to be sort of good and betray Prince at the end.  But altogether, I thought I'd have liked Crowe better playing someone else in the film.  Good actor, just wrong part or wrong approach to it.

Still haven't decided about Depp and Hammer (bet I don't even have to mention which movie).  It might be I'm fine with the casting, just not the writing.  But maybe I will decide that in the long run I didn't like either actor in their respective roles either.  It's a lot easier to decide when the movie's well written (like 3:10 to Yuma) and one character feels like he stands out slightly wrong.
