New Model Uberti-Stoeger 1873 Cattleman
« on: April 05, 2013, 05:08:32 PM »
Just recently I found those pretty guns.
Anyone has any comments about handling? Are new models' actions working better?
It seems that the color case hardening improved as well. I was looking at 0411 models with 5.5" barrels.
Damn it! Again a hard choice between calibers.
I could get either under 450.00 shipped to my ffl.
What say you all?

Howdy Michael, The Uberti case hardening is the chemical treatment, not true case hardening. I don't know if they have the ugly Uberti hammer safety or not, I know the Cimarron Model P (Uberti) does not. I've had the Cimarron Model P, GW II, and the Cimarron Frontier.......IMHO the Frontier is the best of them all, it comes with real CCH and action work, for about the same price. Good Luck :)

Can't find any of those Frontiers within my price range. I found a few right at 500 all the way down to 750, and neither included shipping. That's kinda pricey. Maybe I'll wait a little or just get one of those Cattlemans. Just trying to decide if I want to match my rifle or go big 45

I did contact them. I was told 495.00 including shipping and two to three month wait.

Thank you! Appreciate the help. I've come across this listing as well.
Also, I have found a gorgeus NIB Model P with two sets of grips without a scratch for price I cannot resist.
Looks like Turnbull/Classic CCH too! I did some comparisons with other models. I got really sweet pictures that tell all! Trigger around 3.5lbs. Action operating probably better than adequate for me.
So found these two options:
Frontier 4.75 45Colt B/CCH
Model P 4.75 45Colt B/CCH plus extra set of grips and small price difference
Both brand new and within my range. Frontier may have a little slicker action.
What say you now? Lol! Choices choices.
I will post some pictures of this Model P. Really gorgeus looking!
Thank You
