USFA Parts - Screws
« on: March 14, 2013, 02:17:06 PM »
We seem resigned to the fact that USFA SAA production has come to an end.  No production means no parts.  So...  a few years from now, when you need to replace a screw (trigger, bolt, hammer, frame, etc.) what do you do?  I know that Colt 3rd gen. screws will not work.  Are Uberti screws compatible?

Yes.  The only difference in screws between USFA and Uberti are two of the Grip frame/Trigger frame screws.  Two of the USFA screws are a little longer.  Don't know why, just are.

Thanks Coffinmaker.  I always suspected that was the case.  Only makes sense that USFA would have copied the Uberti screws (metric?) when they converted over to all US made in order to keep the new gun parts compatible with the old.  I have several USFA's and a bunch of Colts but no Italian SAA's so I have never been able to check for myself.

The frame is tapered.  It's slightly thinner in the area of the bolt screw so the trigger screw, which is a little farther back in the frame,  is a tad longer.
