1851 Question
« on: February 01, 2013, 01:54:22 PM »
Is anyone aware of Colt ever packaging a second generatiion 1851 in a light tan box?  Also, were any ever labeled as 32 cal?  Thanks.

No wood grain.  Light tannish.  C series.  Box is marked 32 cal, but it looks like 36.

The C Series 1851s with SN 5200 through 13499 were boxed in the two tone brown/tan clamshell box.  Model numbers were either C1121 (silver BS/TG) or C 1122 (Brass BS/TG).  They were all .36 caliber.  It would not be unusual for one to be mismarked as a .32 cal. however.  I have, and have seen, other Colt boxes that have strikeovers and corrected markings on the labels.
