S&W Performance Center Schofield 2000
« on: September 30, 2005, 06:33:46 AM »
Hi,

Would like to purchase the blue case that came with the S&W Performance Center Schofield 2000 and also the accompanying literature if anyone has these they would like to sell.
One of the brochures (literature)is entitled, "Model 3 Schofield," and the other is entitled, "The Horse Soldier's Revolver: S&W's Model 3 Schofield". Also included was a one page sheet that covers "Safety Instructions & Warnings for the Model 3 Schofield". I would like originals only, and not copies.

Thanks for looking,

Two Flints

Smith & Wesson does some truly short-sighted things once in awhile.

For example - they turned in all of their spare Schofield parts for reclamation - not that they ever had many 'spares'.
With the piece being CNC-machined, maybe it's not too big a deal for them to 'create' the needed part and not have to maintain a large inventory.
In a way - that makes sense.
In another - any replacement part or 'spare' costs more.

Give S&W's Performance Center a phone call - or call their Customer Service folks with your request.
Email - www.smith-wesson.com
Phone (used to be  1 - 800 - 331 - 0852) should be - 1-900 - 622 - 8000.

I do know that they have the Oak display case and the Schofield coin available for sale - but since I never had reason to ask about the brochures - I can't answer that question.
Mine has the Oak case, the associated papers, Coin, and even the later-produced cardboard box.
I even have a spare complete cylinder and grips.

Good Luck.

Hi St. George,

I did call S&W, but they did not have the items I was looking for, so I'll just keep on searching and maybe...???

One of the problems with any of the 'big' manufacturers is getting really 'personal' service - the kind where the other guy actually takes notes and goes in the back to look.
Most of them probably would if they could - but at S&W, it's my understanding that there's a 'distance' between the phone guy and the warehouse because of how their site is configured.

Try a detailed email - and be patient.
An email 'may' give some kind-hearted soul the incentive 'and' time needed for him to do a 'good deed'.

One other thing.

That revolver probably sat at a dealer's for awhile - as a 'display' item.
They were damned hard to get and were a 'draw' for customers.

Sometimes - guns that pulled that duty were eventually sold with a couple of items 'misplaced' - since between the time the dealer received it - put it on display - let folks handle it judiciously and eventually sold it - there's a good chance that 'someone' moved or 'put away' the associated 'stuff' like the shipping sleeve and papers and all - keeping it 'safe'.

A new salesman may not've known that the 'pouch' in the display case was supposed to hold pertinent literature.

See if any of the larger gun shops near you are also S&W Dealers or ever handled their Model 3.
You may get lucky and somebody will remember 'something' back on a shelf.

Hope so.

Good Luck.
