Lone Ranger
« on: December 07, 2012, 11:48:26 PM »
Just got back from watching Lincoln with my son, great movie. Tommy Lee was the star. Saw a trailer for the Lone Ranger coming next year with Johnny Depp as Tonto. What do you think? Will Johnny be an over the top Tonto (like Jack Sparrow), or will the Masked Man be the star?   JW

Yea, I know what you mean. The clip looked kind of steam punkish.   JW

Same experience for same movie trip.  The trailer started out interesting.  I was thinking big screen Hell on Wheels.  Then I saw the masked man and Johnny flippin Depp.  No way will I spend my money on this one.

So-so western is better then no western at all. Looks better then the wild Wild West remake ;)

At least it had a great Colt 1861 Navy Conversion.
A work in progress.

Looks like "Pirates of Arizona", but I cannot wait to see it. I think it will be lots of fun brain candy.

I agree, it's probably just going to be a fun movie with little in the way of historical accuracy. I think it'll be ideal film to go and watch with my son.

For those who haven't seen it, here is the trailer:

I read an interview a while back where depp said it was going to be a "different" play on the LR.  Got a bad feeling immediately
