Got a chance to shoot my rifle with the scope . I shoot at 25 yards at first to see if it would hit the target . My first shot was about a11/2 right of the bulls eye . Made an adjustment to the scope and was now shooting in the center . Backed up to 50 yards and was still in the center . The first outing with the scope was good . Hope to shoot again tomorrow , plan on shooting out to 100 yards . If that works out good . Then plan on breaking out my Vintage Hunting loads to test from the bench . IF it isn't RAINING .

Excellent! Keep us posted. Wouldn't mind seeing a photo or two of your scope mounted on your '73. The Leatherwood website only had one photo, unless I missed seeing more someplace. I've always thought those vintage type scopes look good on an vintage type rifle.

A scoped out 73 in the almighty 44wcf . Could this be the Ultimate coyote rifle using the Vintage Hunting ammo ?  ;D ;D ;D

I put one of the Leatherwood Hi Lux scope on my 44WCF.  Had a tuff time adjusting to the off center shooting position.  Looked pretty cool.....

I shot it a few times for long range.  Worked fine, but I had a heck of a time adjusting to the off side shooting position it requires.  Ended up taking it off.......now sitting forlorn in my gun box. :-\

FWIW, I have a friend who is a south paw.  The thought it was great! :)

I originally had the scope on my 76 when it had a 28 inch barrel . It was to heavy to deal with . The short rifle 73 is doable . I am saving this set up for testing ammo . On a sandbag with a scope that should tell what is the most accurate . I am set up to test the olde Enysford , when ever they get it made ??? Wonder if it will give the performance we are expecting . Time will tell the truth .

Plan on testing NEW powder next week . If this works , it will be the powder choice of the Vintage Hunting Ammo . The Vintage Hunting Association has the Highest of standards for there ammo .

Why dont you which the mounts over so they hang the scope over the other sideof the gun.

I wish!  The design of the rear mount does not allow for that option....without some modifications, which I am not sure would pay off.

Thought I would try to link a photo of the one I just installed on my Uberti 73'. Have yet to shoot it, maybe this saturday. Will take some getting use to but I like it! Unlike other models, the Uberti does not have a threaded hole for a mount screw, only thye friction brass retaining screw. The "ball" hole, that helps keep the dust cover on, is not threaded. I will try it for a while and if I like it, I will thread the hole or drill and tap another one..

Well I left my glasses at home but the first shots were pretty good. The bad news, but expected...is that the set screws started getting loose only after a few shots of light loads. I will have to apply some loctite and revisit.

The first target is from 100 yards.

The second target is with my revolver @ 25 yards.

After I perform a little maintenance, I will revisit the range!

I am having some issues with the scope mount. However, I did manage these groups before calling it quits! I will see what can be done with the mounts and try some more.

Got the new front scope mount installed. Much better fit than the other one. Scope stayed tight.

100 yard and 265 yard shots.

Video is 265 yards.

6.4gr Trail Boss and a Big Lube 200gr bullet.

4 inch x 4 inch block

Target on left is 25 yards. Target in scope is 100 yards

265 yard video

I submitted and then ordered the new bullet mold from Accurate Molds. It's the 43-214A and basically replicates the early 70's brass mold Winchester bullets. I took to the range the other day and scored another 10 shot group inside 4" @ 100 yards with the Malcolm scoped 73' with 25gr of Reloder 7. Scope was zeroed in for 6.4gr of TrailBoss and a Big Lube bullet for 100 yards.....I will re-zero for this load and get back to ya!
