O.K. Gentleman, I think someone named "Doug" needs a serious intervention. First the 1911, Shot Pistols, Woodsman, Maxim Silencers, etc. Now drum roll please;
http://www.zipfactory.com WOW and it uses 10/22 magazines. This is just what we have all been waiting for, another plastic 22 caliber rifle/pistol. They even show "Special (as in Olympics) Operators" carrying them on the website, pure genius if you ask me. Why would I want to waste my money on an SAA, Double Eagle or a Lightening or any of that old stuff when I can have one of these??? I'm sure that the fine folks at USFA will be able to develop a plastic frame SAA if given enough time and talent.
Seriously, Doug is on to something here; Ruger, Remington and Smith & Wesson have really missed the boat here and USFA has beaten them to the punch. Once production is ramped up, I'm sure that these old school manufacturers will not be able to match Zipfactory in terms of production efficiency and economies of scale. Heck I bet the Ruger will be so busy building a million guns a year that they will just be asleep at the wheel when the military and police adopts these guns as standard issue. Who wouldn't want to mount these under their battle rifle; why shoot them with a .223 or .308 when a 22 LR will do the job.
I guess being rich, doesn't make a person smart. Heck who am I to talk; I used to want a Double Eagle in 38/40 and a Lightening to match. When one can do whatever they want, I guess it should be no surprise when they do. Too bad for the men and women who worked hard to create and produce the finest Single Action Army Revolvers ever made. Their craftsmanship and dedication to detail will be missed by all of us who appreciate quality and cherish fine guns. When the "Doug" has left this world and is long gone and forgotten, the products of USFA will live on and the questions will be asked, "What happened to them", "Why would anyone choose to stop making fine guns such as these" and finally, "What were they thinking".
